New Freebie Finish

All of a sudden it feels like ages since I stitched any freebies!

Continuing with the oriental theme for my friend, I'm including one of two Samurai soldiers that I am stitching. I've changed the colours from reds and blues, to greens (for this one) and the other will be oranges and yellows, if I ever get it done.

1. FREEBIE - Kincavel Krosses - Little Samurai:

Design - (Blue) Little Samurai
Designer - Kincavel Krosses
Fabric - 14 ct white Aida
Threads - cheap Sullivans

2. FREEBIE - Peacock:

(I believe they might be the same person, but I don't speak French, so I'm not sure)
Fabric - 14 count white aida
Threads - cheap pack of Sullivans threads (unnumbered)

This second one I have uploaded before (on the 7th of July this year), but this is a scan of it rather than a photograph.

New Finishes

I've been slowly finishing small things (or starting and finishing small things), as I am working on a present for someone who is fond of oriental designs. I have a few more to go (another five, in fact, I think), but for now, here are two more. One I have stitched very recently, but in different colours, and the other you will see again soon, also in different colours. I also stitched a freebie I found yesterday on a French website. Fell in love with it at first sight, had to stitch it, did stitch it (took a couple of hours, no more, no less), and now feel the need to stitch some more of these lovely freebies from this site :-)

So, to start things off....

1. UNKNOWN - Geisha Girl:

2. UNKNOWN - Bridge with Cherry Blossom Tree:

FREEBIE - Merry Xmas

I've been stitching again, this time a freebie!

I know it's not Christmas, nor any time near it, but last year when I put my tree up for the first time in about ten years, then had a look at my existing decorations, I realised just how sad they were all looking.

I've been meaning for the last few years to make some new decorations for my tree and house, and while I've made a few, I've not made anywhere near enough to replace my old and rather tatty ones I currently have.

Anyway, as this is supposed to be a year of freebies, I've started to make a concerted effort to stitch said freebies.

Design: Merry Xmas
Designer: Romy's Creations
(it's about half way down the page, after the non-English versions)
Fabric: Ecru 14-ct aida
Colours: DMC (I chose 5270 (holly berries), 5269 (holly leaves), 436, 817, 3839, 699)

Stitching for 2013

I've decided that next year I am going to stitch only freebies - for a whole year. Some will be retired freebies, but all will be free.

Because..I..Feel..Like..It..

I've been going through my files of freebies and there are a lot of really good ones there. Most people forget that Designers will supply complimentary charts on their webpages, or to various cross stitch shops who then release them in their newsletters or print them out for customers. I wish more Designers would do that, to be honest. Thank you to the Designers who do though. It makes life easier for those of us who live within our means. At least we get to sample their wares :-)

So next year, I am going to stick to my guns and stitch only freebie charts. All year.

I will be posting again soon with a couple of cross stitch finishes that I found in my WIP box. All they needed was some gold stitching and then they are done. None of these three finishes are free however, but from Christmas Cross Stitch books I bought many years ago.

Anyway, pictures to follow....
