FREEBIE - Rico

I have another freebie finish to share. This one is a Rico design, though it is offered for free through a German site that offer a variety of freebies at one a month. It is one of a pair of chickens. I chose the blue & white one, rather than the white & blue one, though I might yet do it as well. I stitched it with threads I had to hand (not DMC or ANCHOR or any other name, just a job lot of threads from my local bargain shop). I did, however, stick to the dark blue, light blue, white and basically chicken leg/beak-coloured brown, though I changed the central stitch of each of the little flowers to a pretty egg-yolk yellow.

Anyway, enjoy:

Design: Blue Chicken
Designer: Rico
(go down to February 2009. It will be listed as 'blaues huhn')
Fabric: 14 ct Ecru
Colours: Dk Blue, Lt Blue, White, Med Brown, Yellow

FREEBIE - Merry Xmas

I've been stitching again, this time a freebie!

I know it's not Christmas, nor any time near it, but last year when I put my tree up for the first time in about ten years, then had a look at my existing decorations, I realised just how sad they were all looking.

I've been meaning for the last few years to make some new decorations for my tree and house, and while I've made a few, I've not made anywhere near enough to replace my old and rather tatty ones I currently have.

Anyway, as this is supposed to be a year of freebies, I've started to make a concerted effort to stitch said freebies.

Design: Merry Xmas
Designer: Romy's Creations
(it's about half way down the page, after the non-English versions)
Fabric: Ecru 14-ct aida
Colours: DMC (I chose 5270 (holly berries), 5269 (holly leaves), 436, 817, 3839, 699)

FREEBIE - Royal Guardsman

Design: Royal Guardsman
Fabric: White 14-ct Aida
Threads: DMC

This little guy is my first freebie of the year! He's a Royal Guardsman. He was originally offered as the cover freebie from the April 2011 edition of Cross Stitcher UK, but is offered for free download through The Making Spot. The only thing I changed was the background cover of the flag, as the original chart had it as the same pink as the face and hands of our little bloke, but given it should have been blue, I made it blue.

Enjoy!

My next freebie item is a needle set - scissor fob, needle book & pin cushion, called "Busy Bees". It's from www.xstitchhappy.com. I will upload photos as I get them done.

NON-FREEBIE - Mouseloft Designs - again!

Design: Yacht Race
Designer: Mouseloft Designs
Fabric: Aida - white, 14ct
Threads: supplied with kit

This is my second Mouseloft Design kit that I've stitched. It took me a bit longer this time around, but it's done now at least.

I've just started my first freebie of the year. It's from The Making Spot, which is part of the UK's Cross Stitcher Magazine's online presence. The one I am stitching was a kit that came with the August 2011 Cross Stitcher magazine. The chart is being offered as a free download pdf. I won't say anything more about it, other than it is a typically British design.

NON-FREEBIE - Mouseloft Designs

Happy New Year!

I've been going through my kits, and found I have a small collection of Mouseloft designs.

I stitched one in about four hours, and I'm almost through my second one. They are great little charts, and come in kit form with threads, 14-ct aida, and a needle, but unfortunately they don't give you a conversion chart so you can stitch them again. I have a bit of each thread left, thankfully, so at some stage I am going to sit down and work out what colours they are in DMC and Anchor, so that I might stitch them again in the future, but it seems you either take a random guess, or stitch them in colours you have that are vaguely close enough, or else if you want to stitch them again, you buy the kit again. Grrr. However, their prices are good for kits, to be fair. Given they are a British company, their prices are in pounds, but at £2.29 (or thereabouts) I'm not really complaining too much :-)

Design: Bicycle & Lampost
Designer: Mouseloft
Fabric: Aida - white, 14ct
Threads: supplied with kit

To follow, is Mouseloft's "Yacht Race", which should be done today. Then I am starting my first freebie of the year.
